Synopsis:
This is a clinical guide for the practitioner in the widest sense: physicians, nurses, occupational hygienists, safety officers, environmental, health officers and personnel managers. It is a primer for appropriate courses and provides all that the interested medical student would need to know. This is a clinical guide for the practitioner in the widest sense: physicians, nurses, occupational hygienists, safety officers, environmental, health officers and personnel managers. It is a primer for appropriate courses and provides all that the interested medical student would need to know. SUBJECT: The fourth edition of the Occupational Health: Pocket Consultant has achieved sales of 6,500 copies worldwide, with 80% of the sales in the UK. It is important to note that the book covers both medicine and hygiene: no other similarly synoptic volume does this. Additional sections on nursing and law extend its unique characteristics. This is a clinical guide for the practitioner in the widest sense: physicians, nurses, occupational hygienists, safety officers, environmental, health officers and personnel managers. It is a primer for appropriate courses and provides all that the interested medical student would need to know. NEED: The fourth edition was published in November 1998, and while still achieving annual sales of around 850 copies, it is now very out of date. It is proposed that the new edition of the book will be more international in scope. The book has been used in several developing countries. Some sections in the present edition are more UK-orientated and could be revised to give it a wider European or international dimension. There is a need for a set of comprehensive information on the theory and practice of occupational health. The information has to be presented in an easy-to-follow format. The proposed new edition will have the following features: 1. Editors and contributing authors with national and international reputation
