Synopsis:
The Advanced Life Support Participant's Manual includes concepts covered in the American Red Cross Advanced Life Support course. The purpose of the American Red Cross Advanced Life Support (ALS) course is to ensure that healthcare providers have the requisite knowledge and skills to assess, recognize and care for patients who are experiencing a cardiovascular, cerebrovascular or respiratory emergency. The concepts in this participant's manual and ALS course emphasize providing high-quality patient care by integrating psychomotor skills, rhythm interpretation, electrical interventions and pharmacologic knowledge with critical thinking and problem solving to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. The American Red Cross Advanced Life Support Participant's Manual is consistent with the most current science and treatment recommendations from: The International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) 2015- 2018 International Consensus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Science with Treatment Recommendations, The 2015-2018 American Heart Association Guidelines Update for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care, American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council reviews, statements and advisories.
