Synopsis:
Fascial Manipulation is a manual method for fascial system dysfunctions that has been developed by physiotherapist Luigi Stecco. This book highlights the impact that this approach has had on modifying the clinical practice of an International group of highly experienced practitioners within different disciplines, such as physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic and massage therapy. Fascial Manipulation is based on a model that introduces a new paradigm for the myo-fascial-skeletal system. This method has been well received by a number of disciplines and experienced professionals from different countries have recognized and embraced this model in their clinical work. While some publications concerning clinical research into this method are now available and more clinical research is being developed, the value of clinical expertise and clinical judgement skills should not be underestimated. Through the presentation of a case report or a short case series, each professional discusses how their understanding of the musculoskeletal system and the role of the fasciae in interactions between musculoskeletal and internal systems has been modified since encountering this approach and the impact that the application of this method has had on their clinical work. These clinicians have been pioneers in exploring a new paradigm for musculoskeletal and visceral dysfunctions. Their opinions can be valuable for either younger colleagues or experienced colleagues who are interested in approaching fascial work, and their personal accounts will provide ulterior historical background to the development of the Fascial Manipulationr method itself.
